Throughout this lesson we will be using Big Marketing Forum as an example.

It is recommended that you open a new window or tab with http://BigMarketingForum.com/Forum so you can follow along with the guide.

You are now logged into the forum. The page you see should look something like the picture below. We are now going to set up your profile. This is an important step as it will allow you to add the websites you are promoting. This way whenever you add something to the forum, everyone will see your websites. OK, let's get started! The first thing you need to do is click the profile link at the top of the fourum. The RED arrow is pointing to where you want to click. Please click the link now and scroll down for the next step.

Now you will see a new page similar to the one below. If you click the Account Related Settings link (the one the RED Arrow is pointing to), you will be able to change your password etc set up a secret question in case you forget your password etc. The page we are interested in though can be accessed by clicking the Forum Profile Information link which the BLACK Arrow is pointing to. Click that now. Scroll down this page to find out how to set up your profile.

After you click the Forum Profile Link, you will be seeing a picture like the one below. This is where you set up your profile. The first section of this page is your picture. This is the area that the RED area is pointing to. You can add your own picture so when you start to use the forum, people can put a face with your username. This will help people associate you with your posts etc. so if you use your picture on a webpage, someone might remember your face from the forum. If you would rather use no picture or one of the pictures available in the Actors or Musicians file we have at Big Marketing Forum you can choose one of these also. If you want to use a personal picture, you have 2 options. The first option is if you have your picture on a website somewhere and know the website URL where your picture is at. To use this just click on the circle beside I have my own pic and type in the website URL where your picture is located. If you have a picture on your computer somewhere, and want to upload it to our server, click on the circle next to I will upload my own picture and then click browse to find the picture on your computer. When you find your picture click open and it will be ready for upload. Also in this section you can put your personal text. This will be shown underneath your picture. So if you have a motto or a favorite quote you can put this here.

Now we move on to the area next to the BLUE Arrow. Here is where you can enter you birthday, your location and your gender if you want to. It is not required, but knowing where you are located in the world and your gender is a big help. You can put your country only or your state only or even your city. It is up to you what you put here if you put anything at all.

The third section where the GREEN Arrow is pointing is where you can add your messenger names if you use any of these and don't mind being contacted that way. Just enter you ID for the various messengers and they will be shown below your name when you post.

The fourth section pointed to by the YELLOW Arrow is where you add your signature. This is where you will be sharing your websites to the world or a personal quote or both. When you type your URL website in the signature location it will be clickable so someone can easily go to your website if they like what they see. You can put whatever you want here and change it at any time. When you get more comfortable with the forum you can add your banner here also. For now I suggest something simple like:

Visit My Site Here: http://YOURSITE.com <not a real link.

Below the signature is an area to put your website and title of your website which will be shown to others under you picture also. The screen is not big enough to have all of this information at once so you will have to find these two on your own. At the bottom of this page you will see a button that says Change Profile. Click this button and your forum profile information will be saved. Now you have your profile set up and on the next page you will learn a few more things you can do while you are in this area of the forum. When you are ready click the
